The Sports Tech Canada community is focused on supporting Canadian businesses in the SportsTech industry. Founders do not have to be Canadian, but all of the businesses are required to have offices in Canada.
No, you do not have to be a Canadian investor. Although we would like to have the support from the local Canadian market, anyone will be able to invest through the Sports Tech Canada community.
The Sports Tech Canada community will be setting up Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV’s) to enable the investment community to invest in deals. This will enable investors to pool their money to make a single, investment in a company and ensure there are limited entries on the cap table for the founder.
There is a team of advisors working behind the scenes of the Sports Tech Canada community, with years of experience in the space that will be reviewing deals. Every deal will go through a strict process and agreed upon by the investment committee before being listed in the community.
The Sports Tech Canada community will look to list 8-10 deals per year for investors.
The Sports Tech Canada community will be rewarded for their involvement in deal and supporting the growth of the community. We want to ensure that everyone who is active in the community, and offering their support to help drive community engagement will be rewarded for their efforts.
